However – you may also be able to save some money by buying a used, locked phone from Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile or Sprint. Only buy a locked phone on these carriers, any other locked phone will not work!

I got the samsung galaxy 2so plus, unlocked, to use on straight talk. The voice works perfectly, but I can’t get the data to work. I’ve been on the phone with straight talk for 5 hours, over a 2 day period and done all the troubleshooting they can do. I contacted samsung and did troubleshooting with them. No one can fix it and it was suggested to me to send the phone off to a service center. The last time I got a samsung galaxy s9 plus, I had the same issue and had to trade the phone in for an LG (which is what I will have to do this time, as well). Is this an ongoing problem with samsung galaxy phones? Or is it that I’m trying to use the phone with straight talk?

Thank you. As I said, I did all the troubleshooting that could be done with both StraightTalk and with Samsung. So I still don’t know if this is a Samsung issue or a Samsung/StraightTalk issue. No point in changing providers if I’m going to have the same issue just because I want the Galaxy S20 Plus (since the last Galaxy I tried had the same issue).

Hi, I have Metro PCS and want to go back to Straight Talk Wireless, but I need to know if I can bring my phone with me. I switched to Metro because I got the Motorola G7 Stylus for free by doing so..I need the 128 GB of memory that came with this phone. The huge drawback of switching carriers is proving to be a pretty major problem: I had good service almost everywhere in my rural community with StraightTalk (cdma) and now I have very spotty service (GSM). Can I bring my phone with me (unlocked) and have it switched to cdma? I really don’t understand how any of this works, so talk to me like I’m a 3 year old please!

The list is not true! I had a Samsung note 8 unlocked Verizon and straight talk never got it to work! I could not send or receive text messages. The phone was brand new out of the box. I spent 2 hours being transferred around in technical support only to be told your phone doesn’t work with us. Lost a lot of $$ on that phone.
Thanks Casey. This list may not be perfect, but generally represents phones that should work. Did you try executive customer support? If the phone was unlocked, and you were using CDMA service on Straight Talk, I don’t understand why it wouldn’t work.

Hello, straight talk is Verizon now and I just purchased a new phone. Ulefone armor 11t 5g. They say it is not compatible with their network, however, the specs show it is. Not sure what makes a phone “compatible”. I have have went back and forth with them about this. One tech support agent said it would work, one said it wouldn’t. I swapped Sim card from pixel 3axl and it’s working. Just worried about whether they will eventually “kick me off network” because of phone not being compatible…. Bought the phone brand new unlocked. I don’t see any reason why they wouldn’t let me use it. What say you?
