We last updated this article on December 22, 2018 to bring you the latest and greatest information!

Bring your own phone to Straight Talk with Straight Talk SIM and save thousands on your cell phone bill.

Want to get unlimited talk, texting and data on Straight Talk or Net 10 for $45 a month?

You can keep your existing phone and take it to Straight Talk or Net 10 to get great service at a great price.  You’ll still use the towers of AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint, but you’ll pay Straight Talk instead of your current carrier (even though you’re still using their towers).

Below we will tell you which phones you can use and which plans you can pick from.

Be sure to read the details, as just being on the list below is not good enough – your phone must also be unlocked or locked to postpaid Verizon, AT&T, Sprint or T-Mobile.

Also, if your phone is not on the list below it may still work if it is unlocked or locked to postpaid Verizon, AT&T, Sprint or T-Mobile.  This is not an exhaustive list of all phones that work.

If you are unsure, ask us in the comment section below!

Once you have found the phone that suits you, head over to Straight Talk and buy your Straight Talk SIM!

Buying a New or Used Phone for Straight Talk SIM Bring Your Own Phone

If you are looking to get a phone for use with Straight Talk’s Bring Your Own Phone program, here’s what I would recommend:

Your best bet is going to be to look for a true unlocked phone, one that was unlocked from the beginning.  Use any of the links above to find unlocked versions of those phones.

However – you may also be able to save some money by buying a used, locked phone from Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile or Sprint.  Only buy a locked phone on these carriers, any other locked phone will not work!

Phones that won’t work with Straight Talk SIM Bring Your Own Phone

Phones on these carriers will not work unless they are first unlocked:

  • US Cellular Phones
  • C Spire Wireless Phones
  • nTelos Wireless Phones
  • Metro PCS Phones
  • Verizon Prepaid Phones
  • AT&T Go Phones
  • Total Wireless Phones
  • TracFone Phones
  • SafeLink Phones
  • NET10 Phones
  • Straight Talk Phones
  • Boost Mobile Phones
  • Virgin Mobile Phones
  • Cricket Phones
  • Republic Wireless Phones
  • PagePlus Phones
  • Jitterbug Phones
  • Greatcall Phones
  • BlackBerry Phones (may not work even if unlocked)
  • Nextel Phones (may not work even if unlocked)

Some phones, particularly international / imported phones will also not work on Straight Talk, even if they are unlocked, as they do not support the correct frequency bands.  Check Frequency Check if you have one of these types of phones, to verify that it will work on the network that you wish to use on Straight Talk.

Purchasing Your Straight Talk / Net 10 SIM

To purchase your Straight Talk SIM, simply head over to Straight Talk and place your order.  The purchase wizard will walk you through selecting the proper SIM for your phone.

To purchase your Net 10 SIM, simply head over to Net 10 and place your order.  The purchase wizard will walk you through selecting the proper SIM for your phone.

When purchasing a SIM, you will need to make a choice about which SIM kit you want to use.  Below is a brief guide that describes what the various kits do.  Any of them can worked with unlocked phones if the phone is compatible with the network and available in your area.
